Painting in Gröden/Gardena

Local painters of the 19th and 20th Century have been given their own section of the museum.

At present, the focus is on the works of Josef Moroder Lusenberg (1846-1939), the most important artist of Gröden/Gardena around the year 1900.

Franz Josef Noflaner (1904-1989) was a local artist and writer. Three large-format acrylic paintings of his can be viewed in the museum's lobby.

The Gherdëina Museum's collection of paintings also includes works by Josef Anton Mahlknecht as well as by Leo Crepaz, Peter Demetz, Luis Piazza, Mili Schmalzl, Hans Sontheimer etc.
